For years, I switched back to English more times than I want to admit. I over-explained grammar. Regardless of how many hours I spent planning a lesson, it never felt that the lesson was effective. Most days I went home exhausted, doubting myself, wondering if my students were really learning anything at all.
And then something shifted.
I stopped trying to do everything perfectly and started planning with intention. I identified the things that mattered most and let go of the rest.
I learned what sustainable really means: not burning out trying to do it all, but having clear routines, a curriculum I believed in, and the knowledge to make confident decisions even on my hardest days.
My students started using Spanish, really using it. Not performing it. Not reciting it. Using it to communicate, to connect, to grow.
And I knew that what I had learned couldn't stay with me. It had to become something I could give to every teacher who was where I had been.
That's why I built the Spanish Teacher Academy.
