-
Why doesn't the usual drill on grammar and vocab seem to get my students to real proficiency? What am I missing here?
-
Is there a trick to getting my students excited and involved in class?
-
With a class of mixed levels and the clock always ticking, what can I do differently that actually works for everyone?
-
How can I tweak my lesson planning to focus on stuff that actually makes a difference, instead of spinning my wheels on things that don't?
Hey there! I'm Claudia Elliott.
I began teaching Spanish in 2004 with just my textbook and a deep passion for the language. Quickly, I realized that these tools alone weren't sufficient. Despite spending hours creating detailed lesson plans with PowerPoints to explain grammar concepts like preterite vs. imperfect, something big was missing: nobody was using much Spanish in class.
That's when I discovered the key was in understanding how students truly acquire a language. This guide is a result of that realization – a comprehensive document of my insights and some practical strategies around Second Language Acquisition that have significantly impacted my teaching approach.
I hope you'll find it as transformative as I have.
Happy learning,
Claudia
