Hi there, I´m Claudia Elliott.
I began teaching Spanish in 2004 with just my textbook and a deep passion for the language. Quickly, I realized that these tools alone weren't sufficient. Despite spending hours creating detailed lesson plans with PowerPoints to explain grammar concepts like preterite vs. imperfect, something big was missing: nobody was using much Spanish in class.
That's when I decided to learn all about second language acquisition (SLA) principles. As I incorporated these principals into my lesson plans, the challenge became the time and energy it took to prepare. I was left drained, with little left for the actual teaching.
It was evident to me that if I wanted to sustained this teaching approach, I had to be more effective. That's when I developed a framework that could streamline my lesson planning. This framework works across levels from Spanish 1 to AP Spanish, and keeps me focused on fostering language acquisition.
